People can make money in any of these markets whether they are going up or down.
Judging by your question, you better start reading before you do any investing. Educate yourslef in investing/trading, the products that are traded and the various markets that offer products

In today's economy, nothing is hot right now. I guess the better question is what is the least cold. Out of these options, Forex might be your best option, because if one currency goes down, then another one must go up. The same is not true for all the other options where everything can go down at the same time. I have started to diversify my accounts into other alternative investments. Check out this article, http://www.thefinancialfitnessclub.com/article.aspx?ID=1253 . The returns on the investments they suggest are better than you would be able to get from any of the above. I personally believe the risk is less to given the current state of the economy.
