i am asking about the comparison between the great british pound and the euro. i never asked about the american dollar…. is the british pound the same thing as the euro or something? or worth the exact same?

The Pound is 2x more valuable than the american dollar.
So say you have a computer that costs $2,000. It would cost 4,000 Pounds

("theanswerguy" is wrong in his "computer" example, too … A $2000 computer would be half of that number, if converted into Pounds … it wouldn't double to £4000)
Anyways, to answer your question, the British Pound and the Euro are not the same. The Pound is managed by the Bank of England, while the Euro is handled by the European Central Bank.
As of the time of this posting,
1.00 GBP = 1.26 EUR
but that is certain to fluctuate.
