Why would anyone insist on keeping "In God We Trust" on American currency?

May 8th, 2008 stanley

What, exactly, is so important about having that particular motto on money? What is the connection between belief and money?
King: I've read it . . . that's not what I'm asking. I'm asking for popular opinion on the issue.
Yeah, because people are suggesting we change "In God We Trust" to "In Allah we Trust." Who have you heard actually suggest this?

And what's so wrong with respecting another religion's view on who God is?
Mike: Treaty of Tripoli. Read it. And never repeat your misinformation ever again.
Rev., just in case Christians forget:

"Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burnt, tortured, fined and imprisoned; yet we have not advanced one inch towards uniformity." -Thomas Jefferson, Notes on Virginia, 1782

"Christianity neither is, nor ever was a part of the common law." -Thomas Jefferson, letter to Dr. Thomas Cooper, February 10, 1814

The Constitution, The First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion [ . . . ]"

The Constitution: Article VI, Section 3
"[ . . . ] no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States."

The Treaty of Tripoli, Article 11 states: "The government of the United States is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion."

James Madison: "Religion and government will both exist in greater purity, the less they are mixed together."

Who else thinks that "in god we trust" should be removed from US currency?

May 7th, 2008 stanley

I think it reflects poorly on the U.S. as a nation. We might as well have a leprechaun on the five dollar bill with "in unicorns we trust" scrawled on the back. I'll bet "in God….." will be removed within the next 20 years. what do you think?
ya im down with the leprechaun too, that would be sweet
