I am soon going to be sent a check of $2,530 Sterling Pounds, or $5,000 USD. How can I deposit a UK check in my American bank? Is this possible?

How don`t know how you do it in an American bank. But here in the UK when i deposit US cheque ,it is deposited in US dollar but when i receive my statement it is already converted in UK sterling at the amount of exchange at the time it was deposited. I presume it will be the same in the US.
