i know that east belin wanted to stick to the old currency but i dont know what it was called an i nt know much about what the new currency was

The West used the Deutsche Mark, while the East used a similar one we call the East german Mark.
When they reunited, they did it under the West German currency, and used it until the Euro replaced it.

In West Germany it was called the Ost Mark. In East Germany it was known as the Mark
