It is only the euro since 1 March 2002, however if you should have old Schilling notes/coins and Groschen coins you may still exchange them into Euro at either the offices of the Austrian national banks in seven bigger Austrian cities or by sending them by registered mail to the Austrian national bank and have the € amount transferred to your bank account.
