Here's pictures from the Reserve bank
http://www.rba.gov.au/currencynotes/notesincirculation/

Australia was the first country in the world to have a complete system of bank notes made from plastic (polymer). These notes provide much greater security against counterfeiting. They also last four times as long as conventional paper (fibrous) notes.

It's beautiful, it's thin, it's plastic, you can wipe crud off it, it can go thru the wash in your jeans pocket, if you are vision impaired it is really easy if you can see colour, it has a fab hologram in a clear window that is counterfeit proof, it is more hygienic than paper notes and lasts years longer and we love it. We also have 1 and 2 dollar coins (different sizes, different ridges on side, vision etc) that last a gazillion more years than crummy old nasty 1 dollar bills.

Yes, our banknotes are made of propylene polymer which is a kind of plastic.
You can find pictures easily enough. Wikipedia has a separate article for each denomination of Australian currency, and I'm sure a Google image search would find you plenty of pictures.
