I am leaving for Barcelona in 2 weeks. Does it make more sense to exchange dollars for euros in the States or at an airport or should I not worry about it until I'm in Spain? Also, do a lot of places accept major credit cards?

In Barcelona, I'd recommend just using your credit card rather than carrying alot of cash around. Just make sure that you use a credit card rather than a debit card, so that you're protected in case there's any fraud.
However, to answer your question, usually you'll get a better exchange rate at the airport where you arrive than you will on your credit card or in your home country. Credit cards use whatever the bank exchange rate happens to be, and usually place a fee on translating between currencies. You should ask your bank what kind of fees they place on foreign transactions and whether they place a translation fee on each credited item, or on all credits accepted within a day.
