Personally, I would prefer that England keep it's own currency rather than switching to the Euro. England's currency has always been strong on it's own. Unless the European community wants to truly unite as both a political and economic power I can see some problems developing. Some of those who have decided to use the Euro previously had currency which wasn't worth much and had great fluctuations. That hasn't necessarily been true of the British pound. From a trading stand point it makes sense to have a single world currency. From a political stand point it makes greater sense for each country to have it's own currency. Without the political union it is difficult for countries to permanently use a single currency. It would be difficult for the U.S. to have a successful single currency without the political union of the states. If each state were sovereign then it would make things more difficult.
