"In God We Trust" american currency?

Is it really that aweful that they take this statement off the currency when religion and politics are to have nothing to do with one another? I personally am not offended either way because money is money and it all spends the same with or without it… but what about those of us that DONT believe in god? Or those that believe in something or someone other than the Christian god? ( I figure the coin statement is for the Christian religion since the primary religion in the US is so) I think this is an awesome step towards ousting religion out of the government.
lol @ washington being full of satanic people… if i believed in the devil i would agree with you! lol but… this is in fact an infraction of our civil religious rights

    It'll be a fight.

  2. Personally I think it should be "In the republic we trust" As the stability of our republic is much more relevant to our economy than any spiritual beings.

Or perhaps we should have it go back to what it was before 1954, E Pluribus unum… Since the Soviets fell, and the change was only to further differentiate us and the "evil commies" there is no point.

Besides, Communist China is our good friend.

I personally think they need to take this off our money..

We're not in the 1950's I think it was when this all started?

  4. I don't really care either.

With that statement the government is promoting a particular religion so I think they should take it out. However if they said In Thor we Trust I would think that is cool and I would want to keep i

  6. People act like it's scrisanct. Like it's been on there since 1776 or something. It was only added in the 60's (that's NINETEEN-60's)
Personally, I couldn't care either way too.

  7. you said it it just doesnt matter .. bottom line is they put it on there because its a fiat currency to get more people to accept its value … which is a good thing whatever you believe … if i think your money is worth somthing then that always works out better for you ..

The reason the US gov't. is in so much trouble is exactly because of thinking like you are stating above. God is the one that raised up America. When America starts to shun God by the changing of laws, trying to take His name off the currency, prayer is taken out of the schools, people get anti-Christian, then the nation will be in trouble, by it's own poor decision making.

Check the cover of Newsweek this month.

79% of Americans claim to be Christian.

So let's be democratic and vote on it :)

  10. the country was founded by men who claimed 2b christians–so it is a part of history—it may not b a christian nation now–but at one time it was

  11. I hate that it is on our money. And the people who say it absolutely has to stay there and moan and b**** about people who want it off would be the first ones to get nasty and hateful if someone proposed putting "In Allah we trust," or "In the Goddess we trust," "In Vishnu we trust," etc. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

This reminds me of a comic I saw (this one was about gay rights, but it still applies). An obviously Christian preacher was repeatedly wacking a guy over the head. After about and dozen hits, the guy said "Will you please stop doing that?" The preacher then says "You're discriminating against Christians! You're infringing on my freedom of religion! Blah, blah, blah." It's a very apt comic.

Ahh but we'd miss the sweet irony of proclaiming trust in God on the supposed root of all evil.

Second thought, not all that ironic.

  13. We'll this is a very good question. This country was founded "under god" and with a bible in hand. It was also founded with the idea of religious freedom in mind.

I think it should stay. This country is tolerant of many thing true. But I think its more of a reminder of how this country was founded then saying that you have to believe in God. Besides, it doesn't say WHAT God you should believe in. There are many different versions. The Constitution says that the two should be separated, and i think that it is just a reminder of history.

  14. Though minor, it is nonetheless an infraction of the separation of church and state and shouldn't be there.

"E pluribus unum" would make a much more elegant and appropriate national motto.

It is an official lie presented on my behalf. I do not trust in any god. and I thin the "We" includes all citizens, including the atheist citizens.

  16. I can only wonder what ''God'' they are referring to because the way the government is, they sure can't be MY God and Jesus Christ..I mean, if they were reffering to the almighty Jesus Christ/Holy Spirit/God, why did they ban prayer from schools, why can't us Christians talk about religion outloud? Then people say that Washington D.C,the white house among other things are built to resemble some kind of Satanic Temple like design and when you view it from the sky,the 5 point star..

  17. Firstly, the country was not founded by Christians, secondly, we are a SECULAR country, and thirdly, there is no god.

That is the only correct answer you have
Why is it I have the feeling you know this already All expect one of the Founders of the American Constitution were Masons and they have dictated policy ever since including adding what you mention regarding the currency When a person sees for themselves who their god is then it makes perfect sense for them to add that term to the currency This site also shows the meaning of the other symbols on a $ bill too
