Exchange rate from Euro to HK Dollars is 1 euro to 10.28 HK
For Yen it is 1.00 JPY = 0.0798471 HKD

Euros might be better as you can see.

Either Euros or Japanese Yen are fine, both are major currencies and you'll get the corresponding rate at banks or currency exchanges in Hong Kong. In almost all cases you'll get a better rate of exchange in the country you're visiting, don't exchange in Japan. Exchange only what you'll need at the airport until you can get to a bank or exchange in Hong Kong, as the rates are not as favorable at the airport. Banks will normally give a higher rate of exchange than private currency exchanges, compare the rates before you exchange.

When you exchange money in Hong Kong, the money changers (or banks) don't really care which currency you use. Both Euros and Yen are welcomed. You really don't need to change any before you leave Japan unless you want to have some HK currency on hand when you land. There are exchange counters at the airport in HK for such transactions as well.

You can check www.xe.com for current exchange rates.

Good luck and enjoy your trip!

I would recommend doing an exchange upon arrival. There are currency exchanges all over Hong Kong. The airport exchange will give you a very bad exchange rate. I'd only exchange enough to get to your hotel (maybe a few hundred HKD) and then exchange elsewhere. Most banks will charge you a fee ($50HKD at Hang Seng) if you don't have an account with them already but they'll do the exchange at the current market value. However if you aren't planning on exchanging too much then the money exchanges on the street will exchange it for you at a slightly depressed rate.

just Yen into HKD is fine. no need to change fr yen to euro then HKD. we hv $ exchange at the airport but the rates wil be a bit lower. so u better change it when u r in Japan. of cos u can exchange $ in most of the HK banks but they do hv handling charge 4 that. usually = HK$50 per exchange.
