I am having a debate and need some reasons why it would be bad to have one currency for north america.

You do realize that Mexico is part of North America along with Canada and the US, right?

the U.S. would lose its sovereignty, or at least be one giant leap closer to losing its sovereignty.
Also, the cost of living and standard of living in Mexico is lower than here. If our currencies were the same, it would tend to drive down the standard of living in the United States, and maybe prices would fall a bit, but they would jump right back up again very soon, but the wages would remain in the gutter forever.
By the way, our wages are already heading for the gutter, but at least it's taking a long time, because our Dollar is fairly strong. The Peso is a piece of shyt currency and we need to avoid it like the plague.

unlike europe which is made of up many countries in a same area the euro work wonderful with the open borders and all of the travelers but in the north america only about 10% of the folks travel to the other two countries (more go to europe) it would serve no useful purpose!!!
