I have this project and I need to make money on trading currency. My first question is can you make money through currency during the weekends, or is currency volatile during the weekend. Next is how do I make money. Say I have a US dollar and desire to convert it to Japanese yen and change it back to US dollars. So that would be around 100 Japanese yen. Do I make money if the value of the Japanese yen goes down from 100 to 80 (which would make sense because that means the US dollar would appreciate in value, when I convert it back) or would I make money if the value of the japanese yen goes up from 100 to 120. Could you also explain why or why not. Say I start of with 10 US dollars, and I have to make 5 transactions and like 15 dollars, how would I do that?

I'm trying to buy few items and will use paypal for the transaction.
but here's the thing:
I live in Australia and the seller lives in US.
So all together, let's say I bought $234.15 USD worth of goods which will be equilvalent to $300 AUD. But how does Paypal convert these currency?
Do they charge more? It seems like it because I converted the money in Paypal when trying to send it and it came out $310AUD. ($10 more!)
Is this true? Does paypal convert it and charge more?

im just giving example. so they charge the service fee? really, i always thought paypal was free…

My wish is to be able to provide equations of our former currency, allowing conversions of all coins & notes, eg;
1; a pound to a dollar
2; a fathom, halfpenny, shilling etc to our current coins
3; a comparison example of an amount eg $750 to pounds.
Finally I seek the names for each of the former coins & notes, as well as their nicknames (zac, dina, quid etc).
Your help is appreciated.

How do you sum a column which has a bunch of currency values with $ symbol.
Ex. I have a column (b) of values $5.60, $6.70….. If I say Sum (b2:b30), I get an output of zero, becuase excel does not recognize it is a number. Even if I change the format of the cells to currency or number it still doesnt recognize it.
I know there is a way of ignoring the $ symbol and doing the sum. I forgot how. Can anyone please help me with this.
