is there a forex school for beginners i can join and what legitimate business can i do from home to make money?

well there is plenty of Direct marketing business out there. it all depends on what you want, the important thing is there must be a product to market, and not just marketing the "join our company and get rich" product,
i once saw a company that offered a fake product too, it was an ebook on how joining the company makes you rich, watch out for that too.
I have 2 suggestions only because I actually have experience with the first one (with success)…and I’m currently in the process of trying the second one…
For an actual paying job you can do at home try http://www.jobstophome.com/. They actually list companies who are interested in finding employees to work from home instead of at the company office. You do have to pay to be a member, but it’s pretty inexpensive (something like $24 if I remember correctly), especially considering you get a lifetime membership and regular updated listings. You can at lease sign up for their free newsletter.

Hope these help… You have to spend a lot of time on these reading as much as you can. The it is just trial and error. Expect to learn for more then a year practicing.

At http://www.forexlane.com there is an excellent tutorial to introduce you to the forex market. It takes you from the basics through to the technical and fundamental strategies as well as advising how to find a forex broker.

Just use a demo account and try simulated forex trading, It is the best way to learn and get comfortable trading currencies. This is how i got started, using a free account with 50,000 of virtual money. You will learn everything you need.

Pick one strategy that makes sense to you and focus on that. Jumping from one thing to another is a sure way to fail. Make practice trades using that strategy until you prove that it works then move to live trades.
