If one was to go visit the U.K what would be the process of converting money? as in where would you go? and what is the value of one currency compared to another?

In a general example, how does a country strengthen it’s currency? Does it need to stop printing new money? Increase it’s Import or Export? Increase the flow of stronger currency into it’s country? I would really like to know what is the best way!

The USD is backed by debt. Which paper currencies are backed by real goods, that has a lower chance of collapsing?
