Some people will get a deceased relatives old coins and spend them. So if a customer insists in paying all in change don't complain. I found silver coins at least once a week in the 80s, probably less common now but you could still find some. Perhaps every few months I'd get a silver certificate. Recently I went through $50 worth of cents. I found 2 Indian heads, perhaps a hundred wheat cents. I went through $75 worth of 50 cent pieces and found 2 silver coins and 8 40 percent silver. Not bad, I just spend the rest. When I did this kind of work I always made sure to have some cash on me to buy any interesting coins I found.
