  1. yeah they do

  2. Yes, the banks and exchange bureaux will change US dollars - but in addition to the normal exchange rate and commission, they charge a 10% penalty. It is likely to be better to use a different currency. Shops, restaurants etc do not accept USD (and haven’t for nearly 5 years).

The two currencies are the convertible peso (CUC) and the national peso (CUP or MN). Exchange rates are based on 1 CUC = US $1.08; 1 CUC => 24 CUP whilst 25 CUP => 1 CUC.

Ah - shopping ? No, in general, the shopping in Cuba is not very good.

  3. Your best bet is not to take american money to cuba as you will have to pay a 10% surcharge. Im guessing that your not american or you would not be able to visit cuba anyways. At the airport and hotels they will convert most international currency(euros, pounds, canadian, ect) to cuban money.

  4. Of course ! Where have you been ?

    We use the Cuban peso

About shopping, do you think cuba is the usa ? You really need to update your information

  5. You have to exchange USD for CUC which are more valuable than us dollars for 20%.Shopping in Cuba is not that good compared with usa. There are two types of currencies that u can use in Cuba, one is the cuban dollars or chavitos (CUC) or the Cuban Pesos, Also if you are in Varadero you may use Euros.

  6. They do accept US dollars you just have to change it into "pesos" or "chavitos" but they will take 10%-20% off as penalty.
When i went there I gave them $100 and they gave me $80 back.

Shopping in general is quite awful since the $ are high and the quality is low.
