Do banks convert foreign currency?

Like for example would the Fifth Third Bank locally convert your foreign currency (I know there will be a fee) into US cash there or would I have to wait….or something? Thanks for your help in advance!

  1. There will be a short wait, because they have to send the foreign currency through their system physically (it is not set up to process non-US currency automatically). So you will get your money, but it might take a few business days.

Some banks do, and some dont. You would need to contact your bank first and ask. I know Bank of America does.

And if your bank doesnt do it, you can use Travelex. They are located through America. Try their website Travelex.com
