It is still the swiss franc, but the euro is widely accepted there. you wont really have too much trouble with it either, considering most touristy places will definitely accept it, and if other places do not, you can go to any swiss bank and exchange the euros for francs no problemo

the swiss franc (short CHF)
Euros are accepted almost everywhere, but only bills and the exchange rate is really bad.
coins can be used for some public phones provided by swisscom (swiss major telephone company) and to purchase tickets for the public transportation tickets (at the ticket machines)

Hey there,

We use the Swiss Franc (CHF or SFr) in Switzerland.

The Euro (€) is widely accepted here, but mostly in bills only, as banks will not change coins. The safer option is to take Swiss Francs, as these must be accepted everywhere (by law).

May I just point out that the € is not technically legal tender, so businesses are under no legal obligation to take your money. If they do accept the €, businesses will often determine their own exchange rates, which you will have to accept, regardless of the actual rates.

Hope this helped,
