Does anyone know anything about turkish currency? I live in the U.S. I found a turkish banknote that is 5000 lira.
Front Side of Bill: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:5000_TL_A_obverse.jpg
Back Side of Bill: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:5000_TL_A_reverse.jpg
I don’t know if this bill is still in use or if new currency is issued, rendering older versions worthless. So my questions are….is it worth anything? If so, approximately what is it worth? And if it is worth anything, what is the best place (in general) that I can exchange it for american dollars?
Thanks in advance.
I sincerely appreciate all of your answers. I am sure there have been several similar questions before mine, but it’s confusing with so many different banknotes that I wanted to make sure that I didn’t have the pot-of-gold at the end of the rainbow. I will check the numbers for the potential rareity as suggested.

Based on fears of the unstable nature of the dollar and its depreciating value in recent days. . .
@Media Man: Indeed, but there has been recent literature in economics of the proposal of ensuring that the SDR is an "actual currency", and does become a world currency. Look up Joseph Stiglitz; he has been speaking about this topic for quite a while now.

I’m doing a science project on removing ink from dollar bills, seeing what chemicals or solutions may work best. Any ideas for how the ink would come of without ripping the paper?

This thought has been pondering in my head for quite some time.
I would like a legitimate answer and not a link to another site that has nothing to do with my question.

I’m not talking about how much a Florin from the Renascimento Italia would be worth *by* now to collectors; I’m asking how much they would be worth in relation to modern U.S. currency.
In short, a Renaissance Florin is equal to what in US money?
