We are travelling to Egypt at the start of June 2010 and need to know is it best to take UK sterling and change it for Egyptian Pounds over there (either in the airport or hotel), change it over here before we go, or just go for travellers cheques (I guess in Stirling).

I am an Egyptian…i would suggest GBP British Pounds…Sterlings…1 egyptian pound is 8.15 british…
Change it here…not in the airport
find a bank near your hotel..the commission is lower…:D

I think it’s better for you to take your Euros with you and exchange them to Egyptian pounds when you go to Egypt.
