Neither China nor North Korea will join. Japan would be crazy to. South Korea would only get pulled down by the other Pacific countries. Many of the islands are territories of other countries (USA, France, Chile, UK, etc.). It will never happen.

Could happen but the countries of Southeast Asia have about 50 years of hard fought negotiations ahead of them if it's to happen. That's how long it has taken in Europe.
