Stay away from the currency exchanges. There are ATMs everywhere and you will get your best rate
They will dispense our local currency at the rate of the day or the close of Friday if you are coming on a weekend.

As Jim said, just get Canadian cash from an ATM. Until then, if you tip someone, they will gladly accept US currency. Most Canadian merchants will accept US currency but only at face vale as if it were Canadian currency.

All major banks have sister banks in other countries that you can go to, to take out money with out any kind of fee (other then exchange rate) from their ATM. i would call or go to your bank and find out which banks in Canada they do this with because just any old ATM may charge you $5 just to take out Canadian currency. also while you are at your bank they will probably be able to give you Canadian currency, mine usually has American money when i go on trips. hope this was of help to you and enjoy your trip to Canada
