I would like to know if JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup, BoA or other American banks offer currency savings accounts services to the common public.
I am 100% positive it is available in other places in the world. See examples below:
http://www.offshore.hsbc.com/1/2/international/savings-accounts/currency-savings-account
http://www.standardchartered.com.hk/personal-banking/deposits/foreign-currency-saving/en/
http://www.offshore.barclays.com/euro-savings-account/
I would also like to know the financial implications of such accounts to a US citizen according to US federal tax laws/relevant state laws.
Thanks!!

I have an Italian lira in my posession. It is a bill with hermes on it and it says 500. How much would it be worth in the U.S today? (Taking into fact that it is not made anymore)
I also have an indian 1 rupee bill. Nowadays 1 rupees are made in coins, not bills. How much would that be worth in the U.S today?
I am not planning to sell these, i’m just curious

I’m interested in collecting currency from all countries and periods. I am not looking at it as an investment (yet), but as a hobby and a learning experience.
I recently went to a flea market and had several good finds. I just need general tips, such as what to look for in a bill and what I should be willing to pay, on average. I know to look for bills that are as close to uncirculated, but do you have any other tips for a beginner, or a good site I could reference?

I want to purchase a $25 Pre-Paid Mastercard Gift Card in Canada, and I want to spend it on a service called Direct2Drive. In this service I have to be under the US Region tab and I was wondering which currency this card comes in so I know whether there is an exchange rate or not. If anyone has any information on the card, or how Direct2Drive does taxes and currency exchanges, it would be really helpful thanks.
