Does lower currency mean lower standard of living and gdp per capita too? I know it’s illegal to artificially lower the value of your currency, but is there any boundaries? How low can you devalue it, and would it be an advantage?

Okay so I’m writing a novel, and they are in like an imaginary country/world but I don’t know what I should call the currency. Originally I had gold and silver coins (the silver was half as much as the gold) but I feel like that is kind of awkward to say, gold/silver pieces kind of sounded better, but that’s used in a lot of video games so I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to use that. What do you think? Any suggestions?

I have asked this twice already to no avail. To make things simple, I live in the United States and am looking to purchase concert tickets to a show for next May in London. I’m just a bit curious as to how this will work, as we have different currencies and I’ve never purchased internationally before. If I use my credit card and purchase the tickets online, will the transaction go through properly (from pounds to USD)? I will be using my VISA credit card. Thanks.

By this I mean having the currency tied to the price of gold. The US went off the gold standard during the Nixon administration.

I have an amount of pesos. From looking on the internet I know how much I have equivalent to American dollars but I don’t know where to exchange the pesos for dollars. Is there as special place to take it to or should I just take it to my bank?

Why does the US Government depend on the Federal Reserve for their currency? Also, if tax income is 100% voluntary, why are we forced to pay it? Its not against the law, but for some reason it seems to be against authority.

I know Vikings raided monasteries for gold & silver crosses, bowls, goblets, etc…but what did they do with them? Sell them, if so, what currency did they accept? Or did they melt down the gold & silver items to make their own kind of coins?
